Katherine Georger, JD, CHC, CHRC, CIPP/US
Chief Privacy Officer and Associate General Counsel
Katherine joined the University in January 2021. Katherine oversees the privacy compliance activities and serves as privacy counsel for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining UNC-Chapel Hill, Katherine directed the privacy and regulatory compliance activities of the Duke Health compliance program, including the Duke University Health System, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Duke Clinical Research Institute. Prior to joining Duke Health, Katherine served as the HIPAA Privacy Officer for the University of Arizona, the Chief Privacy Officer and Director of Regulatory Services for WPS Health Solutions and the Privacy Program Manager for Stanford University’s covered-entity components and group health plans. She also spent more than five years working as an associate attorney in private practice advising clients on a variety of health care transactional and regulatory matters.
Michael Goode, JD, CIPP/US, CIPP/E
Privacy Program Manager
Michael joined the Institutional Privacy Office in February 2021. Prior to joining the University, Michael spent over seven years as an attorney in private practice. Michael earned his J.D. from Campbell University School of Law. He has multiple professional certifications in privacy through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Jillian Pruitt
Privacy Analyst
Jillian joined the Institutional Privacy Office in April 2022. Prior to joining the Institutional Privacy Office, Jillian worked in the University’s Office of University Counsel as a Business Services Coordinator primarily supporting litigation and research regulatory matters as well as health care transactions and student/employment issues. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Alyssa Campbell
Privacy Analyst
Alyssa joined the Institutional Privacy Office in October 2022. Prior to joining the office, Alyssa worked in the University’s Office of University Counsel as a Business Services Coordinator where she provided administrative legal support to a team of transactional attorneys. Alyssa received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Ashley Barnwell
Privacy Analyst
Ashley joined the Institutional Privacy office in October 2022. Prior to joining UNC-Chapel Hill, Ashley spent over 10 years at Duke University Health System. During the last four years of Ashley’s time at Duke Health, she served as a privacy analyst in the Health System Privacy office.
Allie Russell, JD, CIPP/US
Privacy Analyst
Allie joined the Institutional Privacy Office in November 2022. She came to the University after spending over a year practicing intellectual property and privacy law as an attorney in private practice. Allie earned her J.D. from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law. She holds a privacy certification through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
