Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

As a general rule, under FERPA, personally identifiable information (PII) may not be released from a student’s education records without prior written consent from the student. Exceptions to this rule are set out in the FERPA regulations and the FERPA policy of UNC-Chapel Hill.
